Big Picture High School-Fresno is a new public charter
school located in Old Historic Fresno. BPHS-Fresno is
a School of Choice offering a college/career prep program for
all students. Students are able to pursue their passions
through project based instruction and community internships.

About 5 years ago, I was given a book called
“One Kid at a Time.” This book documented the
“Big Picture Model” of education and I
immediately realized that this model is one that
could benefit our local students who are not
satisfied with the traditional approach to high
school education. I have
worked passionately over the past 5 years to see this
school become a reality. |

I strongly believe that
every person has the ability to achieve at a
high level. When we create a situation
where a student can learn while studying in an
area that is relevant, interesting, and
meaningful to the student, and in an environment
of caring support and friendship, we cannot
fail. The Big Picture Model of education
epitomizes this. This is why I so
adamantly endorse Big Picture Learning and have
teamed with Mr. Morse to develop and open Big
Picture High School-Fresno. |

Christine Montanez, M.A., Vice-Principal
Ms. Christine Montanez completed her college
coursework at Fresno State, where she earned her
B.A. and M. A. in Music Performance. Christine
is currently a doctoral student in the
Educational Leadership Program at Fresno State
and serves as the Vice Principal at Big Picture
Middle/High School Fresno. For the past four
years Christine served as Music Director at KIPP
Academy Fresno, teaching music theory and
history as well as piano to all entering 5th
grade students. She also conducts the Big
Picture Middle School Performance Band and
Classical Quartet in addition to teaching
undergraduate clarinet students in the Music
Department at Fresno State.
